On Sunday night during the Miss Universe event host Steve Harvey mistakenly crowned Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez-Arévalo, the winner of the event. He realized his mistake in the moment leading to one of the most awkward TV moments of 2015. The winner from the Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, stood in shock as the announcement was made. All eyes were on Gutiérrez’s reaction as many imagined the humiliation of having something taken away from you within seconds and worse; the whole word has access to see it.
Harvey is known for making fun of people so it’s interesting to see him on the other side of the fence this time. Endless memes hit the web poking fun at the snafu. He has apologized several times and with his talk show, books, comedy, and Family Feud hosting gig, he’s sure to be forgiven but the moment will definitely not be forgotten anytime soon.
