Cultural Tourism Summit at Museum of Photographic Arts (Balboa Park in San Diego)
The Cultural Tourism Summit presented by City of San Diego Commission for Arts
and Culture in collaboration with the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau,
offered an opportunity to develop creative and collaborative initiatives to help draw visitors who participate in arts and culture activities during their trip. Many of the marketing that represent different art organizations around San Diego attended the summit. The presentations were exciting and visually attractive. It definitely got me excited in things to come. Appetizers including tater tots, bread pudding and sliders were served along with wine. The venue was beautiful and allowed us to explore the current exhibit. For more info: www.sandiego.gov
Comic-Con Preview Night (San Diego Convention Center)
The exhibit room was a plethora of comic books, gaming consoles, autograph signing booths and fun merchandise. I even bought myself a Mad Dog Hoodie from So So Happy (sosohappyonline.com)
Many of the restaurants in Gaslamp were brimming with customers because of the event. A couple of blocks from the Convention Center was the Chuck Jones Gallery. Their current exhibit feature drawings of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Batman and many others. All artwork was beautifully done. I loved the Batman drawing, half of it the artist left as a line drawing. It’s great to see how much depth color and shading creates. Their upcoming events include Chuck Jones Mile Centennial: Meet the Artist Mike Kungl on July 12 and Meet the Artist Tennessee Loveless on July 14. For more info: chuckjones.server700.com
