The Golden Gate Kennel Club held their dog show over the weekend at Cow Palace. The two days were full of activities including a fashion show, flyball racing, vendors, meet & greets and of course the main show.

The Wizard of Oz Tour

Follow the yellow brick road to San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts to catch The Wizard of Oz until February 4, 2016. Based on the classic movie from 1939 starring Judy Garland, it includes most of the original elements with a few script changes and new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Disney Unveils First Poster for The BFG

The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle.

Today we celebrate the birthday (January 15th) of civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established in 1983 and started being officially observed in 1986. It’s celebrated on the third Monday in January. Please take the following quotes and relate them to today because they still do. David Bowie Dies of Cancer at Age 69

David Bowie died of cancer yesterday, only two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his 28th studio album, BlackStar. He had been living with cancer for 18 months. He was considered ahead of his time with his style, music, and personality. He was never afraid to say what was on his mind or share his art from deep within. The world gravitated towards him and became better because of his influence.

TROLLS – Actors Reveal Their Characters!

Remember when you took these with you to school (or bingo) in hopes that there was some truth in them being a good luck charm? When you didn’t ace that test you still thought they were adorable and kept them around. Thanks to DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox a new batch of TROLLS are heading to a theatre near you on November 4, 2016. To get the hype started, celebrities revealed their characters via twitter. It’s hard to pick a favorite!

Monarch Butterflies at Ardenwood Historic Farm

Several people waited online outside Ardenwood Historic Farm (Fremont) on New Year’s Day to view the monarch butterflies that migrate there in search of warmth. They travel hundreds of miles from the western U.S. and Canada to escape temperatures that can hit below freezing. There’s been a great decline in their population as many as 25,000 were counted in 1997 compared to about 1,600 at the farm this year.
