SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL!

Bay Area Musicals! closes its second season with their first family friendly show, the Broadway hit musical, Seussical the Musical. Characters are incorporated from Dr. Seuss’s Horton Hatches the Egg, Horton Hears A Who!,1958’s Miss Gertrude McFuzz and The Cat in the Hat. You don’t have to be a Dr. Seuss fan nor bring a little one to enjoy the creativity behind this inventive musical.

Vignettes on Love?

The new play Vignettes on Love playing at the Potrero Stage incorporates nine short music videos filmed by Dances with Light and local filmmakers, and music curated by Noise Pop. The play offers a glimpse into the lives of six San Francisco residents who interconnect via long-term friendships and sexual trysts.

Metamorphic by Katrín Sigurdardóttir

New York-based artist and SFAI alumna Katrín Sigurdardóttir (BFA 1990) returns to San Francisco with a new exhibition entitled, Metamorphic. She is also SFAI’s current Harker Award Artist-in-Residence.

Edward King presented by Central Works

Central Works newest production, “Edward King”, leaves the audience guessing and laughing at the unraveling of a mystery fueled by a bad dream. Edward King (John Patrick Moore) is a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

24th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival

The 24th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival just kicked into gear March 16th and will continue to run through March 26th, 2017. The festival is held at two prime movie-going locations, both the Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley and the Digital Gym Cinema in North Park.

ASSASSINS – Misfits of the American Dream

It’s an interesting time to bring Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Assassins, to the stage. A play about people who decided it’s their life’s purpose to kill a president. It took 14 years for the show to be received on Broadway, and went on to win 5 Tony Awards. Still, theatres have often shied away from producing the show with its provocative topic, scenes with gun pointing at the audience and “accidental” stage shootings (blanks, of course) that will leave some audience members rattled.

Cirque du Soleil’s – LUZIA – U.S. Premiere

If you’re looking for something magical go no further than Cirque du Soleil’s 17th show presented under the Big Top, LUZIA. It’s its 38th original production since 1984, they have performed in more than 400 cities on six continents. The massive white-and-gold Big Top can be seen from the highway at San Francisco’s AT&T park. You’ll not only be taken to another world but you’ll be experiencing it first, the Bay Area is its U.S premiere.
